Congratulations to our Mustang Teacher Leaders!

They received a special award from the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principal's at the Nov. 16 Board meeting.  This Ready, Set, Success award was co-sponsored by MEEMIC Insurance Company who was represented by Mr. John Pino and presented Mr. Robinson with a $500 check to help fund current School Improvement efforts at AMS.  These teacher leaders have worked very hard over the past year to implement a shared leadership model at AMS.

These teacher leaders are: Britta Smith, Laura Baker, Mary Nofs, Sandy Tabacchi, Shevy Jacobson, Julie Marchand-Waite, Holly Knobbe, and Dave Durand (not pictured-Monica Northcote).

RAHCC Conducting the 2009 Parenting Survey

The Rochester Auburn Hills Community Coalition is conducting the 2009 Parenting Survey in conjunction with the ACHC and other Oakland County Coalitions.  Please take a few minutes to help us "get the pulse" of the community with regards to parenting and substance abuse and other important topics.  In 2007, our RAHCC community response was very strong and the data helped guide County Coalition Leaders in preparing programs.  Once completed and analyzed, we will feature this information at an upcoming RAHCC Meeting this winter.

To take the survey, please visit www.rahcc.org  and click on the 2009 Parenting Survey  link.

Participants will have a chance to win an HDTV!!

For more information, please email RAHCC Executive Director, Paul Funk at  paulfunk@rahcc.org

DON'T DUMP IT! RECYCLE IT!

The Abitibi Paper Retriever® program promotes recycling by placing drop-off containers at participating schools and non-profit organizations and has provided Avondale Middle School with a PAPER RECYCLING BIN located in the north parking lot. It is a community recycling bin, so we welcome the community to help us fill it.  Each month Abitibi will send a truck to weigh and empty our bin.  For each ton of paper AMS will get money back, so the more paper in the bin the better.

The following items can be placed in the bin. No need to separate them, they do that at their facility. White copy and lined paper (staples are okay), colored copy paper, soft cover books, catalogs, magazines, newspaper, junk mail.

The following items cannot be put in the bin. Phonebooks, cardboard, cereal boxes, tissue boxes, food cartons, chipboard, laminated paper, colored construction paper.
