The Michigan Department of Education has released the statewide results of the Fall 2009 Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) tests for grades 3-9 that were administered last October.

Avondale School District students outperformed the State in the percentage of all students who met or exceeded proficiency standards in Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies.  In comparison to our 2008 results, we have increased in 9 of the 12 major test areas.

Dr. Heitsch stated, "We are very proud of the results our students have achieved this year and appreciate the efforts of our teachers, administrators and our parents.  Teachers meet regularly to examine what's working and what can be improved in the different areas."
