Dear Parents and Community Members:

We are pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER) which provides key information on the 2009-2010 educational progress for Auburn Elementary.  The AER addresses the complex reporting information required by federal and state laws.  The school’s report contains information about student assessment, Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and teacher quality. If you have any questions about the AER, please contact the school office for assistance.

The AER is available for you to review electronically by visiting the district website at:  www.avondale.k12.mi.us, or you may review a copy at our school office.

For 2010-2011, Auburn Elementary made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in English language arts and mathematics.  While we are pleased to have reached this important goal, we are continuously working to improve. We appreciate the continued support of parents, staff and our community in this effort.

State law requires that we also report the following additional information:

  • Students are assigned to Auburn Elementary primarily by residence/district boundaries.  A small percentage of Out-of-District School of Choice students attend Auburn Elementary if space is available.

  • Auburn Elementary is a K-5 building with a student population of approximately 360 students.  Auburn is located in a suburban area north of Detroit.  Twenty certified staff provide classroom and special education services to students on a daily basis.

  • The Auburn Elementary strives to provide all students with a comprehensive curriculum consistent with the State of Michigan’s core curriculum, the Oakland School’s SCOPE curriculum and recently approved national core standards.  Curriculum information is available for review in the school office or at www.mi.gov/mde.

  •  Auburn Elementary monitors student achievement on a continuous basis through the use of district assessments.

  • Ninety-eight (98%) of students were represented by parents at parent-teacher conferences in the 2010-2011 school year.

The staff of Auburn elementary is proud of our diverse student population where all are accepted unconditionally as individuals.  We welcome you to experience the strengths of the Auburn family.
